Teorema della Monotonia della Derivata Prima

Enunciato

Sia f:(a,b)→Rf:(a,b)\to \mathbb{R} derivabile, ⇒f\\ \Rightarrow f Monotona Crescente/Decrescente su (a,b)(a,b) ⇐⇒f′(x)≥/≤0 ∀x∈(a,b)\Leftarrow \Rightarrow f'(x) \geq / \leq 0\ \forall x \in (a,b)

Dimostrazione

Si vuole dimostrare che ff è crescente in x0∈(a,b)x_0 \in (a,b):

f′(xo+)=lim⁡x→x0+f(x)−f(x0)x−x0≥0f'(x_o^+) = \lim_{x\to x_0^+}\frac{f(x)-f(x_0)}{x-x_0} \geq 0 per il Teorema della permanenza del segno ⇒f(x)≥f(x0)\Rightarrow f(x)\geq f(x_0) perchè ff crescente

Ora dimostriamo che f′(x)≥0 ∀x∈(a,b)f'(x)\geq 0\ \forall x \in (a,b). La tesi è: ff è crescente ovvero: x1<x2⇒f(x1)≤f(x2)x_1 < x_2 \Rightarrow f(x_1)\leq f(x_2) Ora applichiamo il Teorema di Lagrange in [x1,x2]⊂(a,b)[x_1, x_2] \subset (a,b)  ∃c∈(x1,x2) ∣ f′(c)=f(x2)−f(x1)x2−x1=f(x2)−f(x1)=f′(c)⋅(x2−x1)\\ \ \exists c \in (x_1,x_2)\ |\ f'(c)=\frac{f(x_2)-f(x_1)}{x_2-x_1} = f(x_2)-f(x_1) = f'(c)\cdot(x_2-x_1) Dove gli ultimi due termini sono entrambi positivi il che implica che: f′(c)⋅(x2−x1)≥0f'(c)\cdot(x_2-x_1) \geq 0 ⇒f(x2)≥f(x1)\\ \Rightarrow f(x_2) \geq f(x_1)
